Thinking Big for Big Results

The picture might be poorly cropped, but the message is clear. It’s hard to stress enough the importance of our mentality when it comes to making things happen. The truth is, we become what we focus on. The thoughts that consume our time and energy ultimately end up defining our reality. Today, be encouraged and focus on what is possible instead of what isn’t. Focus on what you can do instead of what you can’t. Aim high as if there are no limits, and you might just find that those limits aren’t as real as they seem.

The IT Factor

This past weekend I had the opportunity to be a guest on The IT Factor with AIB Network. Watch below!

The IT Factor | Writing Your Story

Special Guest, Stephanie Perry Moore, discusses how she became an author an story teller, how she includes her family in her narrative, and how The Cosby show influenced her. 'You know it when you meet them: Certain people just seem to have that extra spark of passion that propels them to pursue their dreams in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles or the charm that helps open the door for opportunities that other people don't even see. In The IT Factor, hosted by poet, author and philanthropist Hank Stewart, you'll meet people who have that extra "something," that "it factor." You'll hear their inspiring stories and get a taste of their talents, perhaps igniting your passion to pursue your own dreams!

Precious Faces makes You Smile

Book Signing at Thomasville Heights Elem.

Sometimes life is so busy and so much is left to do that being happy and smiling is the last thing on your mind. Thankfully, the Lord knows best and has a great sense of humor. The day I released my new title, A+ Attitude, I had an attiude that was D- at best. On my way to the school, I was rushing and got stopped by the cops. Oops.

Well, I told the wonderful female officer where I was going and remarkbaly she gave me a warning. When I got to the school I saw all these precious faces and my frustration turned to elation. The kids were so happy to see my new book and meet me. All the hugs and smiles I received made me know I’m doing just what God wants me to do with my life.

Take away point for you, in every situation there is a silver lining so smile!

Cool to be a Proud Parent

Standing with my husband, son, his best friend and his parents

If you’re a parent out there, you know it’s hard raising our young people. We want them to soar, excel, and accomplish great things. And if we’re honest we’re on them 24-7. Isn’t it a blessing when they have a great day?

Well last week, we took my son and his best buddy to a high school combine camp in Alabama. My son had been training for this workout for months. Not only did he and his friend compete hard, but out of approx. 200 football players they both won the only leadership awards given. I wish you could have seen them encouraging others, helping everyone and setting the pace.

I say all that to say, if you’re wishing your baby would get it together…don’t give up. Keep praying, keep pushing them and keep telling them they can be dynamic. The Lord is with us and the kids CAN and WILL make us proud.

Great to go to New Places

Picture with Black Caucus President

Don’t you just love going to new places; meeting new people, seeing new things and being able to expand your realm? Well, I sure do.

Last week I was in Austin at the Texas Library Association Conference. I’ve had the pleasure of being in the great state of Texas many times, but I’d never been to that part of the world. It was meaningful. I learned God has lots of great people to care for and that I’m closer to Him because I’ve stepped on a part of the earth He created. He gave me a special word too.

So I say to you, go to some place new today. A different country, a different state or even a different store. While there, stop and say a prayer. Let the Lord speak to you in a new way, in a new world.  Be blessed.
